MEET TAMARA
I came into this work by living life in the real world — not in perfect conditions, but in the kind that demand you grow. I’ve walked through storms that tried to take my light, and that’s exactly why I’m committed to helping others keep theirs burning.
Today, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, a Substance Abuse Professional, a Certified Medical Cannabis Therapist, and a U.S. veteran. I’m also the Owner of Ta Mara’s Promise — a mental health practice built on truth, culture, and whole-person healing.
Therapy with me honors the mind, body, and spirit — because our struggles don’t show up in just one place. We talk. We breathe. We unlearn. We rebuild. We create space for the full you: the you who has survived things you don’t always say out loud, and the you who is still rising.
I earned a Master’s in Community/Clinical Psychology from Norfolk State University, and I completed advanced training in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutic Management at Saint Louis University. I use my knowledge to advocate for Black and Brown communities — making sure we get real access to care, real relief, and real information about every tool available, including medical cannabis when appropriate.
I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who are ready to shift — not toward perfection, but toward alignment. Toward peace. Toward becoming someone they recognize and feel proud of.
This is a space where culture isn’t an afterthought — it’s a source of strength. Where your story is honored, your pain is heard, and your healing is not rushed. We meet what hurts with compassion. We meet what’s possible with courage.
